Frequently Asked Questions
The difference between interior and exterior signage is more than just the placement. External signage is more prone to weather damage, so the materials used to construct it need to be suitable for both the climate, and the weather. Exterior signage often has illumination as part of the design, whereas that is less common for internal signage schemes.
Designing a bespoke sign involves aligning the client’s vision and budget, with the placement and purpose of the sign. The choice of materials available and design ideas of the architects and artists at xsign are carefully considered, with consultations between the client and design team regularly taking place.
The timeline varies depending on the complexity of the designs and scope of the whole project. We manufacture our signage in-house at our factory in Brackley, Northamptonshire to keep supply chains and production time at a minimum however bespoke signage comes with bespoke production timelines. This is something we can estimate as part of the design process.
Architectural signage is designed to complement and elevate a space with beautiful design. When architectural signs are planned and produced, it is with a greater choice of premium materials and artistry than standard, shop-bought signage. This means architectural signage has an attractive, more bespoke, and skilfully crafted look.
Taking the décor of the environment, the nature of the business, and the brand details into account when designing signage can create a cohesive look. Keeping some of the same design features or motifs across the different signs in a scheme will also create a cohesive look that links different places, products, or services together.
Bespoke signage offers a unique aesthetic aligning with a brand’s identity, ensuring standout visibility and a memorable impression for the organisation. Signage that is tailor-made, allows for customisation of materials, size, and design, resulting in a one-of-a-kind product that sets our clients apart from their competitors.
Architectural signage is a more modern and premium approach to traditional signage. It focuses on integrating with the surrounding environment and complementing the architectural design of a building rather than simply being attached to it. This creates a cohesive and visually appealing space, unlike traditional signage which is often standalone.
We have several recommendations for ensuring signage is inclusive. Using clear, readable fonts, contrasting colours, adding accessibility features like braille and tactile lettering. Our team also offers design consultations to ensure your signage meets all necessary accessibility guidelines that are specific to your needs. Inclusivity is a top priority at xsign, and we offer a wide range of sign options that cater to different needs, such as our patented talky signs for the visually impaired, or multilingual signs for international visitors.
Before we manufacture and install architectural signage we will conduct a site survey to ensure signage can be installed safely and to specification. We take into consideration factors such as lighting, surrounding architecture, regulations, and potential obstructions to ensure that the signage stands out and delivers its intended message. Once the signage is manufactured and arrives at the location, our team carefully mounts it using professional tools and engineering techniques.
